"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible." ~ T. E. Lawrence
How was the weekend?! I hope you all had a fantastic one. Mine was wonderful – J and I took off to lovely Vancouver, B.C. for a long weekend getaway.
Poor J got pretty stressed out just from dealing with the border crossing traffic and downtown Vancouver traffic when we drove up on Thursday evening. We agreed to spend the rest of the weekend car-free. It started with a picturesque 2 mile walk to our romantic and cozy dinner spot, Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island. We walked across the Burrard Bridge and soaked in the sun-soaked city scape.
Dinner at Bridges was incredible. The views of the downtown skyline, of Burrard and Granville bridges, and overlooking the Granville Island boat harbor as the sun set over English Bay – it was breathtaking. And the food, oh, the food. You all know how much of a foodie I am! The scallops were heavenly, my seafood paella was intriguing, and J’s seared ahi was scrumptious. And I had a glass of rose that still makes my mouth water to think about. I’m glad we got to walk all of that food off with our trek back to the hotel.
Friday morning dawned bright and warm. We laced up our runners and walked the 2 miles to Stanley Park. We jogged and then walked the 6 mile loop, enjoying the sea-breeze, the cry of gulls overhead, and the crash of ocean waves against the seawall below. By the time we got back to our hotel for brunch we were famished!
The rest of the weekend was a chance to wind down and relax with friends. We went out for drinks Friday night, celebrated the wedding of two friends on Saturday, and by the time we packed up on Sunday, we were looking forward to an afternoon nap in the sun.
So now, tell me what you were up to this weekend?
